Are We Looking For You?
We are if you were in the Class of 1959 at Pittsfield
High School! It has been 50 years since some of us have
seen each other.
A group is forming to plan for our big 50th Class
reunion. If you would like to join this group, come to
the Pittsfield Community Center on Main Street (the old
Town Hall) on September 24th at 7:00 p.m. Hope to see
you there.
Ian Dudley, Barnstead, NH, was among 45 Northwestern
College, Orange City, Iowa, students who were on the
orientation staff.
The orientation staff planned a variety of events to
welcome freshmen and transfer students to campus August
22-25, the weekend before the beginning of the fall
semester. With a theme of “Northwestern: Yours To
Discover,” the weekend included informational sessions
for new students and their parents, a variety of fun
activities, small group meetings and worship services.
Ian is a Junior majoring in art & writing and rhetoric.
American Red Cross Blood Drive
The second annual Barnstead Parade Blood Drive will be
held on Thursday, September 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30
p.m. at the Barnstead Fire Rescue Station 1 at 305
Parade Road in Barnstead Parade. All presenting donors
will receive a Red Cross/Red Sox Nation tee-shirt. We
will have raffle prizes again this year. And, as
always, the homemade snacks and refreshments will be
delicious.
Donors can give blood every eight weeks and new donors
are needed daily to replenish supplies. Positive
identification is required.
Our goal is to meet or exceed our achievement of sixty
successful units collected at last year’s drive. Come
help us make it happen! Bring a friend!
Story Hours To Begin At Barnstead Library
The Oscar Foss Memorial Library in Center Barnstead will
once again host Story Hours beginning on Wednesday,
September 17, at 10:00 a.m.
Dawn McCartney who has run the Story Hour for many
years, will once again organize this program for us.
Dawn will be asking for volunteers to help with
reading/crafts/snacks throughout the year. The library
is extremely grateful to Dawn and all the volunteers she
provides to make this event a very special time.
Story Hour will be held each Wednesday except when
school is closed. Each Wednesday there will be varied
stories, a craft or two and snacks provided for your
preschooler. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to
come to this great program being held for your children.
This is a terrific way for parents/caregivers to
interact, meet each other, or just to have a chance to
talk with other people who might share a thought or two.
The children have totally enjoyed these programs over
the years. It also gives them wonderful library exposure
and the opportunity to check out the many books the
library has to offer for their age group.
Plan now to join us on Wednesday, September 17th. The
Library is located across from the Town Hall in Center
Barnstead on Route 126. There is parking behind the
library and also down by the playground out back. Please
call the library at 265-3900 for more information.

Barnstead Old Home Day Says Thank You
Barnstead Old Home Day 2008 was a huge success! The
weather was very cooperative and we had a beautiful
summer day for our event. By all accounts, everyone had
a great time.
The winning tickets for the Old Home Day Raffle were
drawn just before the start of the band concert. The
winner of the 1000 pounds of the Unadillawood Composite
Wood was Suzanne Bibeau. The winner of the Emotion
Glide Kayak and Paddle was Eileen Murley.

and made the announcements.

who, together with the members of their respective

create the theme artwork
-
The residents who surround the Parade Grounds for
