Balancing Life’s Demands
New year, new beginnings! A time to put "first things first". Are you
busy, tired, stressed out and stretched to the limit? Does life seem a
little out of control? Are you running long on the "to do’s" and short
on time? The Center Barnstead Christian Church is currently going
through an adult Sunday School class entitled, "Balancing Life’s
Demands" taught by Chip Ingram via a DVD. Everyone is welcomed to join
us.
You’ll learn how to find peace in the midst of pressure and adversity.
No quick fixes, just practical Biblical insights to help you order your
personal world. The study begins at 9:00 am every Sunday. We also offer
classes for children where they have fun learning basic Bible truths
from God’s word. Our Morning Worship service follows at 10:00 am.
If you are looking for help with "Balancing Life’s Demands" or if your
family is looking for a church to attend, come and join us this Sunday!
The Center Barnstead Christian Church is located on Route 126, next to
the Town Hall. For more information, contact the church at 269-8831.
Many, Many Thanks
All of Avery Michaud’s family would like to thank everyone for the love
and kindness shown during our recent loss. It touched our hearts to see
how many people came to say good-bye to Avery.
Avery’s classmates from the 3rd grade came and the teachers lined them
up to sit on the stairs.
A special thank you to a woman and her husband. They told us they held
Avery in their arms. They told him they loved him and he was a good boy.
They stayed with him as he went on his way to heaven. It gave us some
comfort to know that he wasn’t alone. God bless them and everyone.
Thanks so much,

Barnstead Elementary School Joins Fisher Cats Reading Challenge
Program encourages students to increase reading outside the classroom
Barnstead Elementary School hosted the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on
Friday for a special introduction to the Fisher Cats Reading Challenge
presented by the Community College System of New Hampshire. The free
school-based program will encourage and provide rewards for Barnstead
Elementary students who increase their reading outside their normal
classroom curriculum.
"Every off-season this program continues to grow in size and
importance," said Fisher Cats President Rick Brenner. "A strong reading
ability is one of the most important building blocks in a student’s
development. We hope this partnership with CCSNH encourages these
students to improve every day."
The program introduction was hosted by Fisher Cats mascot, Fungo, who
met with the students during a special assembly. With the help of a
Fisher Cats staff member, Fungo highlighted his love of reading while
presenting each student with a challenge: Read an additional five books
on top of their normal school curriculum and receive a pair of tickets
to a Fisher Cats/CCSNH Reading Challenge Night scheduled in 2012 at
Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
"New Hampshire’s community colleges are pleased to help motivate New
Hampshire students to perform their best," said Shannon Reid, Director
of Communications for the Community College System of New Hampshire
(CCSNH). "Literacy is a key element of academic achievement, increasing
children’s confidence and making them better communicators as they grow.
We look forward to celebrating with them at the ballpark in 2012."
In addition to the individual challenge, students will represent their
school in a special team competition for the second straight year.
Through a donation from the Fisher Cats Foundation, the school with the
highest percentage of students who complete the Fisher Cats/CCSNH
Reading Challenge will win a $3,000 grand prize. Two additional schools
with the next highest percentage of completion will each win $1,000
prizes.
Last year, the Fisher Cats/CCSNH Reading Challenge reached 55,800
participants, more than doubling the program’s previous high. Since its
inception in 2007, more than 120,000 students have learned the
importance of reading through Fungo, the Fisher Cats, and CCSNH.
The Fisher Cats/CCSNH Reading Challenge is available free-of-charge to
all schools in New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts. To book a
presentation by Fungo and the Fisher Cats, contact Community Relations
Manager Kim Blanchard at 603-641-2005.
The Fisher Cats/CCSNH Reading Challenge is a part of the Fisher Cats
year-round effort to give back to local communities. Since 2007, the
Fisher Cats and the Fisher Cats Foundation have generated over $1.75
million for 2,500 regional non-profit organizations by making donations,
in-kind contributions, and hosting fundraisers at the ballpark. In that
time, the Fisher Cats Foundation has also awarded a total of $140,000 in
scholarships to college-bound high school seniors.
