Special
Meeting Of The Barnstead Historical Society
The
Historical Society Meeting will be held on January 10th at 7:00 pm in
the Town Hall.
The Society
will be discussing future planning, including the possible acquisition
of property for use as a museum, a meeting room and archival storage
(much needed).
The Future
Planning Committee, co-chaired by Ken Burt and Ken Pitman, will be
reporting, to members, on its progress since discussion at the October
2012 regular meeting.
The
Barnstead Historical Society, currently, does not have a building where
we could display items of interest from Barnstead’s History.
All members
of the community, interested in History and community improvement, are
welcome to join the Society. The membership is $5.00 for individuals and
$8.00 for a family. We encourage you to become a part of preserving and
passing on Barnstead and N.H. history. Your participation is most
welcome.
Letter
To the
customers and employees of the Barnstead Country Store:
I, Art
Demers, meat cutter at the store, announce my retirement. I have worked
at the store for the past eight years. After a life time profession (52
years) of cutting meat I have decided it is time to hang up my apron and
my knives.
To the
customers: It has been a pleasure to serve you and give you the quality
cuts of meat you always expected. I will sincerely miss all of you.
To my
coworkers: It has been a pleasure to have met you and worked with you
all. I hope we can all stay in touch.
I look
forward to my retirement, spending more time with my grandchildren (13),
trying to do more and better things with my wife of 34 years, Mo,
spending more time at the senior center in Pittsfield, more time for
fishing and more yard work (yuck).
In closing,
I sincerely wish each of you a very safe, healthy and happy New Year!

Ladies
Night Out
There are
many things that ladies like to do; shop, attend the theater, cook
together, or just get together and laugh about crazy things that happen
during the course of a day. Well, going to Ladies Night Out at Center
Barnstead Christian Church can accomplish some of those events! We have
some fun things lined up for the coming year that you won’t want to
miss!
We will
meet the first Monday of every month and learn new things and enjoy
familiar activities as well. Several ladies have planned some very
interesting and informative activities for the new year. Please plan
your schedule accordingly to join us for the fun.
Among the
planned activities are Soup swaps, Spa night, Comedian Night, projects
for Angel tree, cookie swap, freezer cooking, ladies retreat, a computer
training night and even a plant swap (and seed swap) with professional
advice from a local nursery. So plan on joining us as we get together
and bear each others burdens and share each others joys. We are a
friendly group that just likes to get together!
For more
information, please contact the church at 269-8831.
