Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News
The air outside is feeling like it blew over an iceberg before it
arrived here. Ice has formed on the edges of a few puddles in the yard. This
means it is time to head down to the Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop and find
some great deals on winter clothing, jackets, boots, etc. While you are
there, you can check out some of the wonderful items that have been donated
by local folks and local merchants for the Ruthi True Appreciation Day
Silent Auction.
For any of you who don’t know, Ruthi has been very ill. Prior to her
illness, Ruthi spent at least 15 years serving as a volunteer to help meet
the needs of folks in the local community. We thought it would be fun to
tell Ruthi thanks and to help earn some money toward her medical bills.
Ruthi True Appreciation Day took place on October 24th at 345 Suncook
Valley Road in Chichester. To honor this commitment a band, food and a
Silent Auction rounded out the festivities. If you were unable to make it on
the 24th, you may drop off a donation for the fund or make a bid on the
Silent Auction items at the thrift shop Tues., Wed., or Thurs., 8 a.m. to 4
p.m. or on Sat. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Chichester Grange
Chichester Grange met upstairs at the Grange/Town Hall on October 21.
Before the meeting with advice from other Grange members, Mary West and Anne
and Marty Boisvert decorated a Christmas wreath, which will be auctioned to
provide funds for the Pleasant View Home in Concord. The Drs. Phelan dental
practice supplied the opportunity and some money for materials, and
Chichester Grange was pleased to supply the creativity and labor.
The Grange charter was draped in memory of Bernice Sanborn who had
belonged to the Grange for 81 years. Her membership had been transferred
from Loudon to Pittsfield and finally to Chichester as the other Granges
closed.
The main business of the meeting was to discuss resolutions, which will
be brought before the delegate body at the NH State Grange Annual Convention
at the end of October. A lively discussion of the NH Dairy Industry, Casino
Gambling, and State Grange By-Laws gave delegates Anne and Marty Boisvert
some questions to raise at the convention and some guidance as to how they
should vote.
Chichester Grangers also voted to sponsor Hannah West in the “Patron’s
Plunge.” On October 31, some hardy Grangers dressed in Halloween costumes
will take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for the NH State Grange
and the NH Dictionary Project. The annual NH State Grange Convention is
being held this year in Hampton, NH, at the Ashworth by the Sea Hotel.
Following the meeting refreshments with a Halloween theme were served by
Ina Hilliard.
The next meeting will be held on November 4th.
