The Chichester
Youth Association Ski Program will start on Friday, February 20th and not on
the 13th as originally stated.
Remember the 20/20 Vision meeting on Saturday, February 14. The
Master Plan Committee will share the results of their Survey (Have
you filled yours out yet?) and gather additional citizen input for
what Chichester will look like in another ten years. Breakfast and
lunch will be served and child care will be provided.
For the past 2 years the Chichester Library has had a “Food for
Fines” program where patrons having late books can bring needed
items for the Chichester Food Pantry instead of paying a cash fine.
The library is going to continue this program in 2009. We do have
many patrons that are not late but still bring food pantry donations
to the library. If you would like to give to the Chichester Food
Pantry, just drop by your library. Thank you.
The Chichester Youth Association MAMA KICKS Valentine’s Day event is
SOLD OUT! Thank you to all who purchased tickets and promoted the
event. Please remember your ticket must be presented at the door.
Happy Birthday to Patrick Jarvis on February 12 and Heather Duford
and Kendra Jarvis on February 16.
Chichester Grange met at the Grange Hall on Wednesday, February 4,
with Master Anne Boisvert presiding. Following a brief business
meeting, members participated in a program of valentine and
presidential trivia presented by Alice Hilliard.
After the meeting all enjoyed delicious refreshments provided by Barbara
Frangione.
Chichester Grange meets only once during the month of February. The next
Grange meeting will be Wednesday, March 4.
Letter To The
Editor
Dear Suncook Valley Sun:
Recently, I took in a lady who was pregnant and staying in a homeless
shelter. Before we could get any baby supplies, the baby came. I turned to
Ruth at Out Of Your Attic for help, and I have to say thank you to her and
everyone there. The baby now has a place to sleep, a changing table, a
swing, a start up kit, and clothes.
While thanking Ruth, she said to me, “The day I can’t help people and
volunteer, is the day I will just stay at home.”
Ruth, you are an asset to that community, and I hope you never just: “sit at
home.”
Thank you again Out Of Your Attic.
Sincerely,
Brenda Churchill
Out Of Your
Attic Thrift Shop
Donating Time and Goods
I’ve volunteered for the past 13 years in thrift shops. Before I took this
last volunteer job as manager of the thrift shop, I tried to get to know the
people who ran Baby Threads where our money goes after we pay all our bills.
I really wanted to know if the money went where it should and if it reached
the folks who really needed help. Obviously I was happy with what I
discovered as I’m still here. If you want to know what we do just stop in
for a visit and get to know what we’re all about.
Volunteering is a good way to see first hand for yourself what an
organization really gets done.
It’s nice to give your donations locally as it may end up helping a local
family. None of us knows what the economic problems may be in the near
future. Town budgets are demanding and if you can cut down on clothing items
and other items thrift stores sell it will give you more to save for tax
bills.
Isn’t it smarter to spend your money wisely and get the most for your
dollar? It’s always seemed to me like maybe it was just as important to save
money as it was to work hard earning it.
Wish list:
1) Lady wanting a large casserole dish 3 quart or bigger.
2) Replacement pot for Cusinart coffee pot (12 cup).
