New Hampshire Spring Turkey Season
Submitted By
Evelyn Pike
Chichester Town Clerk/ Tax Collector
The N.H. Sixth Annual Youth Turkey Hunt for 2009 will take place April
25 and 26. In 2008 young hunters took 579 gobblers. To participate in the
youth hunt, youth must be age 15 or younger and be accompanied by an adult
age 18 or older holding either a current NH Hunting or Archery License and a
Turkey Permit.
The adult may not carry a firearm, or bow and arrow. Youth hunters do not
need a Hunting License, but they must have a valid Turkey License.
Each adult can accompany a maximum of 2 youths. Youth are subject to the
same regulations as those in effect during the regular spring season and
must register their turkey within 24 hours at a registration station.
In addition to the youth special weekend, youth can hunt during the regular
spring season when accompanied by a properly licensed adult age
18 or older.
The spring season for turkey starts May 3 and ends the 31. The spring turkey
shooting hours are ½ hour before sunrise to 12:00 noon. The spring bag
limit is one bearded or male turkey.
Your 2009 Turkey Licenses can be purchased at the Chichester Town Clerk’s
Office.

Chichester Grange
Chichester Grange met on Wednesday, April 1, with Master Anne Boisvert
presiding. Members received a surprise upon entering the hall to find that
the officers stations had been reversed in observance of April Fool’s Day.
After an initial adjustment the new layout worked very well.
The Charter was draped in loving memory of Scott Edmunds and resolutions
were read in his memory. He had belonged to Chichester Grange for 82 years.
As April is Grange month, Mary West is working on a public display for the
library. It is also hoped that some new members will be recruited as the
Grange is growing rather short of able-bodied help. A committee will meet to
begin preparations for the Community Awards Night in May.
There was discussion of Memorial Park and a request to ha ve flowers near
the Veterans Memorial for Memorial Day. Plans were started for a brief
Memorial Day observance, which would include the placing of a wreath near
the stone until the danger of frost is past and the flower tubs can be
safely put in place.
The books have been audited for the last two quarters of 2008 and a report
was made. A tentative budget for the fiscal year beginning in June, 2009,
was presented by Treasurer Ina Hilliard and discussed by the members.
The April Fool’s Day Program was directed by Anne Boisvert. It included
readings about some of the top April Fool’s Day hoaxes of all time, a game
of “Pass the Y2K Bug,” a mad-lib, and a couple of songs.
Refreshments following the meeting were served by Millie Becker.
The next meeting will be April 15, with a Youth Night Supper before the
meeting to raise funds for the customary Youth Donations.

Kids Helping Kids By Pedaling for a Cure Submitted by Nancy Boyer Volunteers
from Chichester, Concord, and Barnstead are organizing a kid’s bike-a-thon
for children ages 2 to 13, to raise money for cancer research and treatment.
On June 7, 2009, approximately 200 children will come together to bike in
the PMC Concord, NH Kids Ride, at the State Agency Buildings on Hazen Drive
in Concord, raising money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy
Fund.
Throughout the month of June, over 6,000 children across New England will
work toward a $1,000,000 fundraising goal by riding in local Kids Rides,
sponsored by the Pan Massachusetts Challenge. Some of these children
will be waging their own battle with cancer, others will be riding for
family members and friends who have cancer or lost their lives from this
disease, and still others will be riding out of their own desire to help
others. Regardless of the reason for participating, this event offers
a way for children to actively work to help others, promotes athletic
activity, and encourages the community to come together to help those
diagnosed with cancer.
After the ride, there will be festivities such as facepainting, food, music
and DJ, a clown and more! Anyone interested in participating in this
event, as a rider or as a volunteer, can learn more about the PMC Concord,
NH Kids Ride by checking out the website at
http://kids.pmc.org/concordnh or
contacting Nancy Boyer at 798-5127.
The PMC Concord, NH Kids Ride Committee will be holding a charity dance for
cancer research and treatment, on May 2, 2009. The Dance will be held
at the Plausawa Valley Country Club in Pembroke, NH from 7:30 p.m.-11:30
p.m. Tickets are just $10 and will include light appetizers, desserts,
and a cash bar. There will also be a silent auction, door prizes, and a
50-50 raffle. Tickets to this event are limited; anyone interested in
purchasing tickets should contact Nancy at 798-5127. All proceeds
raised at the dance will go to the PMC Concord, NH Kids Ride, benefitting
the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Thank You
Abby McIntosh & her family would like to thank everyone for their prayers,
and good wishes during her stay at Concord Hospital. Thanks to those
who sent cards, flowers, balloons, stuffed animals, those who called,
emailed and came to visit, and the person who snuck into our house to fold
the laundry and take out the trash!
Abby fell from the chair lift at Pat’s Peak a couple of weeks ago and broke
both of her arms. She is adapting quite well, and it looks like her
recovery is progressing well!
Thank you again!
