Obituaries
Michael J. Reale
Michael James Reale, 46, son of Barbara Reale and the late
Malcolm Reale, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, at Merrimack County
Nursing Home in Boscawen.
He was born June 4, 1963, in Malden, Mass., and graduated from
Merrimack Valley High School in 1982.
In his youth, Michael made a career of being a student —
attending Keene State College and New Hampshire Technical Institute
before earning a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science.
He spent several years working for Central New Hampshire
Community Mental Health Services / Riverbend Community Mental
Health, eventually serving as director of residential facilities.
After leaving Riverbend, Michael worked in the office at Pittsfield
Middle High School for many years. He most recently worked for the
state Department of Health and Human Services.
His proudest accomplishment, and the one for which he will most
be remembered, was founding Gemini Entertainment, a deejay and emcee
business, more than 20 years ago. The business not only gave him an
outlet to showcase his often zany and always loved personality but
allowed him to touch the lives of thousands of people.
Through Gemini, he also was able to give back to the community,
most notably by providing music for the Payson Center for Cancer
Care’s annual Rock ’N Race and deejaying dances for local schools.
He also worked with NAMI New Hampshire and United Way of Merrimack
County.
Whether he was emceeing a wedding or dressing up as Santa and
sneaking past the windows on Christmas Eve to delight his nieces and
nephews, Michael was always the life of the party. He brought joy to
and touched the hearts of everyone he met.
In addition to his mother of Concord, he is survived by his
partner, Roger Gagnon of Epsom; three brothers, Anthony Reale of
Barnstead, Stephen Reale of Hopkinton and Dana Reale of Concord; two
sisters, Barbara Reale-Mandrey and Jenifer VanPelt, both of Concord;
and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday (8/26) from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 PM at the Waters Funeral Home 50 South Main St. Concord.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM in the Chapel
of the Waters Funeral Home.
Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
Merrimack County Nursing Home Hospice Wing 325 DW Highway, Boscawen
NH 03303 or the CRVNA Hospice 30 Pillsbury St. Concord NH 03301,
both of which were wonderful to Michael in his final days.
