Come check out the 1776 memorabilia display table at the
Gilmanton Corner Public Library.
|
The display table is filled to the brim with 1776 memorabilia including a three-corner hat (see if it fits!), Paul Revere's lantern, books
relating to the American Revolution, an ink well with a pen they would have used in 1776, plus coloring pages depicting a history lesson all about
the American Revolution. Read about why America was involved.
Come check out our donated blackboard to see what events are in store for the summer.
Just a reminder that story hour will begin in July on Wednesdays at 3:30 continuing into August. Diana will be the story teller this year and
she has plenty in store for the young folks.
Gilmanton Community Church
Submitted by Rev. Linda Bolton
We were blessed to participate in the baptism of four people on July 6th at Manning Lake! What a glorious celebration. As a community
church we are sensitive to several different traditional ways of blessing parents and their children and for that very significant time when a person says
`yes' to God's love and commits their life to growing in their Christian faith. We dedicate and we christen infants and young children when their
parents bring them for a blessing even as Jesus blessed all the children brought to him. We acknowledge and honor the traditions of different
denominations when a person comes to that sacred place of decision to receive Christ into their hearts and lives, recognizing their confession of faith either
through confirmation or Believer's baptism. Scripture is clear - God looks on the heart, as do we!
In our last article I neglected to announce the location of our famous Chicken & Rib Barbecue on Saturday, July 12th from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
This is held at the Iron Works Church on Route
140 - a change from all the other
dinners which are held at the Corner Church (Route 107). We
look forward to your coming to enjoy the great food! In addition to the chicken & ribs we are serving home-made potato salad, coleslaw, rolls,
home-made beans and, of course, our famous dessert table! The cost will be $10/adult, $8/seniors, $6 for 12-6 yrs with a maximum cost for an
immediate family of $20.00 (that is parent/s and children). (We will also be serving hot dogs.)
Please remember our community food pantry held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. If you need help - come! If you are blessed
and can support the pantry with food or monetary donations - we will consider ourselves blessed also!
As you are reading this our Vacation Bible Camp is going well! Newcomers are most welcome if even for a few days. (July 7-11, I.W.
Church, 8:45-12noon).
Summer preaching/worship schedule: - Pastor Linda is preaching July 27, August 17, 24. Pastor Peter Bolster is preaching July 13, August
3 and August 31. The Deacons and lay leaders will be coordinating worship on July 20 and August 10. Every worship is inspirational! We
are worshiping at the Corner Church (Route 107) through September. Worship services begin at 9:30 a.m. with childcare and a time for children
in worship! We are delighted to welcome visitors! Come - worship with us!
