Planting Day At Gilmanton Year-Round
Library
The Gilmanton Year Round Library will hold a SPRING PLANTING SESSION at
the new Library on Route 140, right across from the Gilmanton Elementary
School, on Saturday, May 9th beginning at 10:00 am.
An anonymous donor has agreed to deliver a dozen plants and trees to
help make the outside of the Library as attractive and complete as it is on
the inside. If you are interested in plants, planting or seeing the GYRL
effort for the first time, please bring a shovel or just bring yourself to
lend a hand and look around.
This is a great opportunity for the Town’s young people to catch a
glimpse of what’s happening at the GYRL and to learn more about future
events. Please join us!

During the month of May, we will be featuring an art media exhibit
throughout the Library. For those of you who have lived in Gilmanton since
the 1950s, we will have a very large graphite drawing by the well-known
artist, Stafford Good. One of his specialties was drawings for book covers.
How appropriate that one of his drawings is on display at the Library!!!!
We have the good fortune to have yet another FREE museum pass available
for our members. This pass is to the New Hampshire Historical Society Museum
which is just a short trek to Concord. Your children will enjoy this museum
as well. This FREE museum pass besides the other two FREE museum passes to
Currier Art Museum and SEEScience Museum are available for checking out at
the open hours shown above. Remember that the SEEScience Museum pass also
includes grandpa and grandma. Besides great educational tools, you can have
a fun day for free!!!
The annual May book and bake sale will take place on Saturday, May 23,
at the Library from 9:00 to 1:00. There will be a white elephant table along
with a selection of perennials for sale.
Raffle tickets are now available for a signed, yes a signed, book by
Tasha Tudor, a hand painted foot stool and a tiger maple cheese board with
cheese knife. The drawing will be July 4th. All profits from this raffle
will go towards our new adjustable bookcases.
We again thank all our donors who have contributed toward our new
bookcases. Your generosity has brought this project to the midway point!
