Dorcas Guild Donates Blankets
Nella Hobson, member of the Dorcas Guild, First Congregational
Church of Pittsfield, recently handed over more than 20 homemade
quilts and blankets to Maureen Kathios Brown, “Project Linus”
representative. The transfer was made at Kalily Studio in Epsom, a
drop-off location for “Project Linus.” The studio recently conducted
a no-cost work day for the project. The Dorcas Guild selected
“Project Linus” as one of their yearly projects for community
service.
The “Project Linus” organization is named after the lovable Peanuts
comic strip character who is always seen with his blanket. The group
is a volunteer, non-profit, which seeks to provide love, security,
warmth and comfort to children who are ill, traumatized or in need
of a new handmade blanket or quilt. It also affords the opportunity
for individuals and organizations to directly benefit children.
According to Brown, coordinator for the New Hampshire Seacoast
Chapter of “Project Linus,” over 2,000 handmade blankets go to
children in need in New Hampshire yearly. For more information go
