Northwood Congregational Church Strawberry Festival, June 25,
and Sanctuary Dedication, June 26
The Northwood Congregational Church, UCC, is holding a
Strawberry Festival on June 25 from 8:00 am until 1:30 pm at the
church grounds on Route 4 next to Coe-Brown Academy. This year
the Strawberry Festival is extra special because the Northwood
Congregational Church, built in 1840, has been under
rehabilitation since September of 2015. The congregation
raised over $250,000 and then received a grant from the Land and
Heritage Conservation Investment Program for $200,000. With the
money raised, the church hired Preservation Timber Framing to
rebuild the front porch, the foundation, sills and
rehabilitated the beautiful front porch columns.
Start the day with a hearty pancake
breakfast or stop by during lunch for hot dogs, hamburgers, or
our new strawberry salad. We will have strawberry shortcakes or
sundaes, homemade pies and locally-picked strawberries
throughout the festival. You may also find several treasures at
our huge yard sale under the big tent! During the Strawberry
Festival you are welcome to come for a tour of the church and
see the rehabilitation work of our beautiful historical
building.
On Sunday, June 26, the church is holding a Sanctuary Dedication
during the Worship Service at 9 am. There will be special
music and special guests including UCC Conference Minister, Rev.
Gary M. Schulte, and founding members of the church. You are
welcome to join us on Saturday and Sunday to see the exciting
changes on the inside and the outside of the church.
For more details regarding these
celebrations, please call the church at 942-7116.
