Pittsfield Middle High School students present a $809.00 check
to Ruth Strickhart of the Pittsfield Food Pantry. PMHS and PES
students, with the guidance of art teachers William Mitchell and
Lisa Stevens and Family and Consumer Science teacher James
Cobern, raised the money by organizing an Empty Bowls event at
PMHS. Handmade ceramic bowls crafted during art classes
and at community pottery sessions were sold. Students made and
served all the soups, breads, and desserts enjoyed by the public
at the May 24th dinner in the PMHS cafeteria, where the bowls
were displayed and sold. Empty Bowls mission is to raise
awareness of hunger issues in our communities. The project was
supported by a generous grant from New Hampshire Charitable
Foundations and Globe Industries to enlist local potter Teresa
Taylor of Salty Dog Pottery to work with Pittsfield students.
Thank You
We at the Food Pantry want to make a
public “thank you” to the students and staff who put together
the “Soup Bowl” Supper to benefit our organization. It was
great. Everyone received a beautiful handmade ceramic bowl plus
a choice from five different soups and many desserts. The Pantry
was overwhelmedd when they were given a check for $809. What a
great gift. Deeply appreciated and needed. Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you!
