A “Thank You”
From A Recently Retired School Lunch Director
I recently
retired from the Northwood Elementary School as the Food Service Director. I
want to thank all of you who have sent me such lovely cards and notes
thanking me for my years of service and wishing me well in my retirement. It
has meant so much to me.
For over 30 years I have enjoyed seeing the lunch program grow to what it is
today, and I want to thank Beth Eaton, and Denise Cleasby for all their
years of support, dedication and hard work. Also, thank you Viola Canella
for joining us last year! Many thanks to Tom Sayers for all of your help!
The lunch programs of today are striving harder and harder to fight obesity
in children by providing more nutritious lunches and serving lots of fruits
and veggies, along with eliminating white bread with whole grain breads.
However, it is most important for this fight to be carried out in the home
as well.
Support your lunch programs, they are doing a great job!
Sincerely,
Laura Josiah

Letter
We are supposed
to love Sarah Palin because she has more executive experience than Barack
Obama and Joe Biden. In fact, she has more executive experience than John
McCain, her running mate. Well, the Wall Street Journal, not your typical
“liberal media,” took a look at one of her projects.
“It’s too bad that the city of Wasilla didn’t do their homework and secure
the land before they began construction,” said Kathy Wells, a longtime
activist here. “She was not your ceremonial mayor; she was in charge of
running the city. So it was her job to make sure things were done
correctly."

I urge you to read the whole article from the Sept. 8th edition, but to sum
up, not paying attention to details for this indoor sports complex for the
city of 6000 led to years of litigation and $1.3 million in extra costs for
the city of Wasilla. Can you imagine how that would play in NH? No one would
be running on executive experience after a performance like that!
“Responsibility” indeed!

News
From the Nurses’ Office
My name is Shelley St.Clair and I am the nurse at Northwood School. I have
a B.S. degree in French Education, have owned and operated a licensed home
day care, volunteered for the Epping Ambulance, and received my nursing
degree from Stratham Community Technical College. I worked for 2 years at
Exeter Hospital as an RN and then at a doctor’s office.
The first weeks of school have been busy! Miss Sharon and I have been
receiving medications from home, getting medication sheets signed (which you
can find on the school wellness site for printing out), and tending to
students and staff alike. Students have come in for various reasons
including: losing teeth, upset stomachs, bruises to the head, as well as to
say hello. Emergency information is being gathered and put into our
computer system. We encourage students, teachers and parents to stop by and
say hello!

From Mrs. Gasowski
Mrs. Gasowski’s physical education students in seventh grade are beginning
their six week related arts session with flag football, track and field and
fitness testing. Members of the Coe-Brown track team will be our guest
instructors for discus and shot put. Third and fourth graders are also
learning about track and field events and will hold their own “Olympics.”
First Grade News
The Northwood School first graders came for an early visit to school during
a First Grade Visitation Day the week before school began. Students were
able to bring their families in to meet their teachers. We were thrilled
that so many were able to attend to get acquainted with their new classrooms
and classmates. Mrs. Gibson, Ms. Konrad, and Mrs. Kramas are looking
forward to working with these great children and helping them to have a
happy and successful first grade experience.
Mrs. Gibson, Ms. Konrad and Mrs. Kramas invite all first grade parents and
guardians to an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 30 from
6:30-7:00 p.m. The teachers will explain their programs and student
expectations and answer questions that parents may have. This is for adults
only, and babysitting will be available at the school.

the whole family! Join neighbors and friends at the Nottingham School on

the Nottingham Day event.
Our first Cupcake Contest received entries from surrounding towns. To date,
21 participants will display and have judged their baking talents. Judging
begins at 10:30am. Prizes in six age categories will be awarded at 12:00

entertainment throughout the day. Visit a petting zoo and challenge yourself
on a climbing wall. Other fun events include amusement rides, dunking booth,
children’s bike parade and lots more! Many local crafters, businesses, and
organizations will be selling crafts, food, and handing out information.
Scheduled to perform are talented Nottingham residents Tom Hall at 11 a.m.
as well as Peg and Cheryl at 1 p.m. and Carol Coronis at 4 p.m. Help
support the future of Nottingham Day by taking chances on a popular Nintendo
Wii hardware/software system to be raffled near the end of the festivities.
Or bid at the silent auction - donated auction items continue to be accepted
in the Recreation Department office. For more information call the
Nottingham Recreation Dept at 679-3435.
From 4 to 6 p.m., the Nottingham Congregational Church will host a chicken
BBQ supper. Available around town and at church functions, tickets may be
pre-purchased for a lower price. Come join neighbors and friends at the
delicious finale of Nottingham Day. Note: For safety reasons, no bicycles
are allowed on site (except during the bike parade).
Pastor's Corner:
Laodicea Christianity
By Pastor Ted White
What do you love above all else? Who is the most important person in your
life? How do you know this is true in your life? Do others see this? Can
they see this? Or, do they see something else? Just because a person says he
is a Christian doesn’t mean that he is. A person can say anything, but it
doesn’t mean it is fact.
In Revelation chapter 3, verses 14-22, the church in Laodicea said they were
rich and did not need a thing. But Jesus said they were wretched, pitiful,
poor, blind and naked. The church had one perspective of themselves and
thought it was great. Jesus had a different perspective and saw their great
need. Why the two different perspectives? In verse 19 Jesus said He shows
the ones He loves where they are erring. The Lord loved the church at
Laodicea, but they were wrong in many areas. Jesus was offering them to take
His counsel.
In verse 20 Jesus said He wanted those who know Him to be open, to spend
time together with Him. Wow! Jesus wants those He loves to spend time with
Him. That will give the proper perspective, one through His eyes. So many
that profess the name of Jesus believe they are doing fine when in reality
they are erring. Erring because they are physically OK and don’t think they
need anything, but spiritually they are in dire need. They need to have a
heart change and move in a different direction, thinking correctly about
themselves. The Lord told them to listen to what the Holy Spirit had to say
(3:22). If we do not take the time to listen to Him, we will be in error and
yet think we are OK. How many are living today, doing what they desire, not
listening at all to the Lord and think they are OK? May we reflect on where
we are as followers of Jesus. Are we hot, cold, or lukewarm?
God wants you to enjoy the life He has given you and to escape the
consequence of death, which is separation from Him forever. To do so go to
