Are you
interested in maintaining our rights to self-government, the rights
of nature and the subordination of corporate privilege to the rights
of the community? Do you have an interest in building sustainable
communities by assisting people to assert these rights? If you are,
or think you might be, come meet Gail Darrell from Barnstead, the
New England Community Organizer for the Community Environmental
Legal Defense Fund (CELDF), on Wednesday, July 17th, at 7:00 pm at
the Northwood Community Center, 135 Main St. in Northwood Narrows.
Gail led the organizing campaign to pass the CELDF-drafted Ordinance
in Barnstead, New Hampshire, creating the first in the nation law
banning corporations from withdrawing water in a community.
The
program is presented by the Northwood Democrats. Everyone is welcome
to attend, no matter what your party affiliation might be. You can
read more about CELDF on their website at
http://www.celdf.org/index.php.

spite of recent setbacks in membership, new leaders were elected for
the following year which are as follows: president - Ellis Ring;
secretary - Bill Lounsbury; treasurer - Dave Linden; director: Judy
Lounsbury.
With
less than 20 members, it will be difficult to support all the

needy; seeing eye dogs for the blind; support for Camp Pride - NH’s
only camp of its kind for the blind, juvenile diabetics &
handicapped children; winter outing for the blind; student
scholarships; International Peace Poster program.
The
club has built a 2,000 ft. 10’ wide trail in the Meadows State Park,
which is handicapped accessible.
Many of
you have enjoyed walking this trail to the pond on a regular basis.
