On Your
Mark, Get Set, RIDE…
Local preschoolers participated in the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon May
23-24. Deerfield Cooperative Preschool has participated in this
event since 2008 and raised more than $15,000 for St. Jude.
This year they were excited to partner with Tuckaway Tavern in
Raymond to raise more funds.
The St. Jude Trike-A-Thon teaches children riding toy safety
while raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®,
which is leading the way the world understands, treats and
defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
A tradition for more than 32 years,
the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon is a fun curriculum for daycare
centers and preschools. Children learn riding toy safety lessons
through a series of interactive stories from special characters,
Bikewell Bear® and Pedals the Bunny®, while raising money for
St. Jude. At the end of the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon week, children
bring their trikes or riding toys to school and practice the
safety lessons they have learned.
In addition to safety lessons, kids
learn about helping others, including the patients of St. Jude.
Families, friends and the community team up to support the
hospital by pledging a donation to the hospital to ensure that
families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment,
travel, housing or food because all a family should worry about
is helping their child live.
