Maple Weekend March 28 & 29
New Hampshire’s maple season has begun, and as this early
harvest progresses, producers are rushing to boil down the
sweet sap into golden maple syrup, candy, sugar, spreads and
more. These sugar makers take great pride in producing high
quality maple products, and welcome the public into their
sugar houses, creating a vital link between food producers
and consumers.
By proclamation,
Governor
John
Lynch has
designated March 28 & 29 as New Hampshire Maple Weekend, and
urges citizens to recognize the economic and cultural
importance of maple producers in
New Hampshire.
Over 65 sugar houses
around the state will be open to visitors during Maple
Weekend, offering free samples and tours. Some will be
serving up pancake breakfasts and other maple treats. Others

Dear
Pittsfield Residents:
Please consider applying to the Planning Board for appointment as
alternate. The Planning Board needs two alternates, and one of its
members is on extended absence. Furthermore, the Planning Board has
a lot of work to do in this upcoming year, and to do that work well,
the Planning Board needs public participation.
If you have felt ignored at a Town-board meeting, or if you
thought that a board made a wrong decision, then now is your chance
to be heard. If you have never sat on a board or served in
government before, do not let this deter you; no experience or
expertise is needed. If you can spare a few hours per month, then
please speak to either the Town Administrator, Mr. Paul Skowron; the
Building Inspector, Mr. Kyle Parker; the Planning Board Acting
Chair, Mr. Gerard LeDuc; or me, Jim Pritchard.
Thank you,
Jim
Pritchard

Worcester Polytechnic Institute Announces Fall
2008 Dean’s List
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that
Jennifer
Sansom, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs.
David
W.
Sansom of
Pittsfield,
NH, a junior majoring in Biomedical
Engineering , was named to the university’s Dean’s List for academic
excellence for the fall 2008 semester.
A total of 823 undergraduate students (about a quarter of
the undergraduate population) achieved the criteria required for
WPI’s fall 2008 Dean’s List. The criteria for the WPI Dean’s
List differ from most other universities as WPI does not compute
a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean’s
List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses
and projects.
